m.meThankfulTRANSPORT MINISTER RESPONDS Earlier this month Minister Chris Bishop announced a Rule Change that will require drivers to give a mandatory minimum passing distance of 1.5m when passing people on foot, bicycle and horses. Whilst the New Zealand Vulnerable Road User Charitable Trust welcomes the inclusion of equestrians in the new law change, it is disappointed a 2m passing gap has not been adopted in line with international best practice.
